A Dog Tip for A Misbehaved Dog This Holiday Season

I was in Davie on Monday installing a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® system for a new client and his Goldendoodle named Bogey.  Goldendoodles are often frisky and full of energy and Bogey was no exception.  He had been digging under the back yard fence to get to the canal and visit other dogs up the way. My client just wanted to put a stop to it.  The installation went well and Bogey quickly understood that he no longer wanted to go near the fence and leave the property.  My client was ecstatic because he had been trying to put pavers,...

Making Sure Everyone in Your Family Controls and Loves Your Dog

We were in Lauderdale Lakes last Thursday repairing a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® System for a current client and his Rhodesian Ridgeback, Baron.  I had installed the system and trained Baron about six months ago and everything was going great.  Baron no longer ran into the street to chase cars and bicyclists and didn’t try to jump the fence in the back yard.  The problem occurred when my client’s landscapers planted some new bushes and palm trees along the side of the yard.  They had cut the underground wire in several places...

I was in Wellington last week installing a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® system for a new client and Milo, his Bull Terrier.  It was a rather large property and the installation went quickly.  Milo “trained up” very well and understood where he could roam and where he could not enter.  The entire training process was really kind of fun because several of the neighbors came over to watch as we were training Milo through our leash walking and directional education process.  As we were finishing up, one of the neighbors came over to me...

When Your Dog Runs into the Street

About a month ago I installed a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® System in Palm Beach Gardens for a new client and his Border Collie named Rusty.  The back yard was already enclosed with a four-foot fence, but Rusty could easily jump over it.  Their big concern was having Rusty jump over the fence and go after the ducks in the lake behind their house.  We took care of that with little issue.  We also created a perimeter in the front yard where there was no fence.  We did this as a simple necessity to complete the underground system.  Up...

How to Work with A Timid, Rescue Dog

I just finished a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® project in Green Acres for a new client and his Bull Terrier, Lucky.  It was a large property and took several days to complete.  While I was working on the installation on one side of the property, his neighbor approached me and we started a conversation.  During the course of our conversation, I had mentioned that my wife and I were also professional dog trainers and had worked with thousands of dogs with all sorts of obedience and behavior problems.  He was very interested and asked me...

What to Do When Your Dog Doesn’t Potty on the Walk

We were in Tamarac last Thursday working on a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® project for a new client and Lexi, his precocious, roaming Goldendoodle.  As I was installing the perimeter wire in the front yard, a neighbor approached and asked if I also trained dogs.  I told her that Robin and I have trained over 3,500 dogs in South Florida over the last eleven years and asked her if she was in need of some dog training help.  She said that she had always had dogs all her life, but she was having a big problem with a one year old Pit Bull...

I was installing a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® system in Palm Beach Gardens for a new client and his Pit Bull named Billie.  The installation was pretty simple and Billie quickly understood where he should be and where he shouldn’t roam.  My client was very pleased with the results and was looking forward to allowing Billie in the yard without worrying about his wandering off into the neighborhood.  As we were finishing up the training and starting the paperwork, he said he had a “Dog Training Question”.  Since my wife and I...

What to Do When a Neighbor Is Mean to Their Dog

I was in Parkland yesterday installing a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® system for a new client and Katie, his Irish Setter.  I missed the rain and lightning, so the installation went quickly and Katie was a fast learner when it came to staying within the yard.  As we were finishing up, my client and I observed his neighbor walking his dog down the street.  The dog was pulling and it was obvious that the neighbor was becoming agitated.  All of a sudden, we observed the neighbor pull so hard on the leash that the dog flipped over...

I just finished a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® installation in Loxahatchee for a new client and his Poodle, Sam.  My client’s poodle was not a bad dog, just very inquisitive and social.  He just wanted to be roaming the neighborhood in search of someone to say “Hi” to.  Well, we quickly resolved that issue and Sam is now only saying “Hi” to neighbors, family, and friends who come onto my client’s property.  As I was packing up, my client wandered over with a dog training question.  Well, it really was a potty training...

Have Your Dogs Get Along Together

I was performing some modifications to a Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing® system in Jupiter last week for a client and Winston, his 2-year-old Beagle.  He needed to have the perimeter extended to include the back acre of his property and to have some new areas blocked off from Winston’s wandering.  Luckily, there was no poison ivy or prickly bushes with thorns, so the work went pretty quickly. As I was finishing up and loading my equipment back on the trailer, he walked over and had a “dog training and behavior” question for me.  His...
